Overview

FR901464 is a potent cytotoxic natural product originally isolated from *Pseudomonas* sp. No. 2663. It functions as a spliceosome inhibitor by specifically targeting the SF3b complex, a crucial component of the U2 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP) involved in pre-mRNA splicing. By binding to the SF3B1 subunit of the SF3b complex, FR901464 disrupts the recognition of the branch point sequence, leading to the accumulation of unspliced pre-mRNA and subsequent cell cycle arrest or apoptosis. Shanghai Minbiotech manufactures and supplies FR901464 as a high-potency pharmaceutical intermediate and active pharmaceutical ingredient (API), primarily intended for use as a cytotoxic payload in the development of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) for oncology applications.
