fradiomycin + gramicidin

FG Troches Meiji is a combination antibiotic lozenge containing fradiomycin sulfate and gramicidin. It is indicated for the local treatment of various inflammatory conditions of the oral cavity and throat caused by susceptible bacteria, including pharyngitis, tonsillitis, stomatitis, and gingivitis. It is also used prophylactically to prevent infections following dental or oral surgical procedures. Fradiomycin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic, exerts its effect by binding to the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit and inhibiting protein synthesis. Gramicidin, a polypeptide antibiotic, acts as an ionophore that increases the permeability of the bacterial cell membrane to monovalent cations, disrupting the electrochemical gradient and leading to cell lysis.
