Overview
Frankincense Gel is a topical botanical formulation containing extracts of *Boswellia serrata* (frankincense), currently being evaluated for its wound-healing and anti-inflammatory properties in dental surgery. Developed and studied by researchers at Cairo University, the gel is applied to palatal donor site wounds following soft tissue graft harvesting, such as free gingival or connective tissue grafts. The therapeutic effect is attributed to the presence of boswellic acids, which are known to promote epithelialization and reduce postoperative pain by modulating the inflammatory response. In clinical trial settings, it is often used in conjunction with a palatal stent to protect the surgical site and enhance tissue repair.
