fraxinus pennsylvanica pollen extract

Fraxinus pennsylvanica pollen extract is a non-standardized allergenic biologic product derived from the pollen of the green ash tree. Developed and manufactured by Greer Laboratories, it is indicated for the diagnosis of ash pollen allergy via percutaneous or intradermal skin testing and for the treatment of ash pollen-induced allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and bronchial asthma through allergen-specific immunotherapy. The extract works by inducing immunological tolerance, shifting the immune response from a Th2-mediated allergic profile to a Th1-mediated or regulatory T-cell response, thereby reducing IgE-mediated hypersensitivity. It has been marketed in the United States under BLA 101833 since 1981.
