FreAmine III

FreAmine III is a sterile, nonpyrogenic amino acid injection used for parenteral nutrition to provide a balanced mixture of essential and nonessential amino acids for protein synthesis and nitrogen balance support in adults, typically administered with dextrose and/or fat emulsion as part of total parenteral nutrition. It is available as 10% amino acid solution and as lower-strength formulations with electrolytes; the 10% product provides 15.3 g nitrogen and 97 g amino acids per 1000 mL, with L-amino acids except glycine, and is hypertonic (calculated osmolarity ~950 mOsm/L). Mechanistically, the amino acids serve as substrates for protein synthesis, spare body protein, and support anabolism when adequate calories are provided. B. Braun Medical is the NDA holder/manufacturer in the U.S.; historical and international presentations also exist. Indications include prevention of nitrogen loss or treatment of negative nitrogen balance as part of parenteral nutrition regimens, with dosing individualized by nitrogen balance and clinical response.[1][3][4][5][2]
