Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Freederm is an over-the-counter topical acne treatment developed and manufactured by Diomed Developments Limited. The formulation contains 4% w/w nicotinamide (niacinamide), a form of Vitamin B3, in a gel base. It is specifically indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate inflammatory acne vulgaris, including inflamed papules and pustules. Nicotinamide exerts its therapeutic effect through anti-inflammatory activity, reducing the swelling, redness, and tenderness associated with acne lesions. Additionally, it serves as a precursor to the coenzymes nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP), which are essential for cellular metabolism. The product is intended for twice-daily topical application to affected areas on the face, chest, or back.
