Freeze-dried rabies vaccine (Vero cells) is an inactivated biological product developed by Anhui Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical, a subsidiary of Chongqing Zhifei Biological Products, for the prevention of rabies in humans. The vaccine is produced by culturing the rabies virus in Vero cells, followed by inactivation and lyophilization (freeze-drying) to ensure stability. It is intended for post-exposure prophylaxis to induce the production of protective neutralizing antibodies against the rabies virus. The vaccine is administered via intramuscular injection after reconstitution and has been evaluated in clinical trials using standard immunization schedules, including the 5-dose Essen regimen and the 4-dose Zagreb regimen. It is designed to meet a potency requirement of not less than 2.5 IU per dose.
