Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Frenadol Complex is a multi-ingredient over-the-counter medication marketed primarily in Spain for the symptomatic relief of the common cold and influenza. It contains a combination of paracetamol (analgesic/antipyretic), dextromethorphan (antitussive), chlorphenamine (antihistamine), caffeine (stimulant), ascorbic acid (vitamin C), and bromhexine (mucolytic). While traditionally used for respiratory symptoms, it is being investigated in clinical trials (e.g., the Hepatotest study) as a panel of probe substrates to assess hepatic metabolic function. The components are metabolized by various cytochrome P450 enzymes, allowing for the evaluation of liver performance through pharmacokinetic analysis.
