Drug intelligence / Profile preview
fructo-oligosaccharides + probiotics is a synbiotic mixture consisting of short-chain fructo-oligosaccharides (scFOS) as a prebiotic and a probiotic blend of Lactobacillus reuteri DSM34531, Lactobacillus rhamnosus DSM26357, and Bifidobacterium lactis DSM32269. Developed in collaboration with dsm-firmenich and the Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen, the synbiotic mix is designed to modulate the gut microbiota, strengthen the intestinal barrier, and reduce systemic inflammation. It has been clinically evaluated in the ProFOS study (NCT04635670) for its potential to improve albuminuria, endothelial function, and markers of nephropathy in individuals with type 1 diabetes and albuminuria.
