Fructosin is an oral capsule product containing the enzyme **xylose isomerase**. It is designed for the prevention and alleviation of symptoms related to **fructose malabsorption**, such as abdominal pain, nausea, and disturbed intestinal function. The mechanism relies on the conversion of fructose (fruit sugar), which is poorly absorbed in some individuals, into glucose, which is more readily absorbed in the small intestine. This reduces the amount of unabsorbed fructose that reaches the colon, thereby diminishing symptoms caused by its bacterial breakdown. Fructosin is not suitable for individuals with hereditary fructose intolerance. It does not contain histamine, lactose, or gluten, and lacks preservatives or artificial flavorings. It is classified as a medical device rather than a pharmaceutical.
