This is a combination regimen consisting of three drugs—fruquintinib, bevacizumab, and capecitabine—used primarily as maintenance therapy for metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). Fruquintinib is a highly selective small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor targeting vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR)-1, -2, and -3. Bevacizumab is a monoclonal antibody that binds to vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), inhibiting angiogenesis. Capecitabine is an oral prodrug of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), which acts as an antimetabolite interfering with DNA synthesis in rapidly dividing cells. The combination aims to synergistically inhibit tumor angiogenesis and cell proliferation. Clinical studies have evaluated this regimen as maintenance therapy after first-line induction treatment in mCRC patients, showing promising anti-tumor activity and manageable safety profiles[1][2][8].
