fruquintinib + liposomal irinotecan + capecitabine

This combination therapy is an investigational regimen being evaluated as a second-line treatment for metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). It consists of fruquintinib, a highly selective and potent oral tyrosine kinase inhibitor of vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR-1, 2, and 3); liposomal irinotecan, a topoisomerase I inhibitor encapsulated in a liposomal formulation to enhance drug delivery and duration; and capecitabine, an oral fluoropyrimidine carbamate that acts as a cytotoxic antimetabolite. The regimen is currently being studied in a Phase 2 clinical trial (NCT05555901) led by investigator Liu Huang to compare its efficacy and safety against a bevacizumab-based combination in patients with advanced colorectal cancer who have progressed on prior therapy.
