Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**FST-201** is an investigational fixed-dose otic suspension developed by Foresight Biotherapeutics for acute otitis externa, including acute fungal otitis externa. The formulation contains dexamethasone 0.1% and povidone-iodine 1%. Dexamethasone is a glucocorticoid receptor agonist intended to reduce inflammation, edema, and pain in the external auditory canal, while povidone-iodine is a broad-spectrum topical antiseptic that releases iodine and produces nonspecific oxidative antimicrobial activity. Phase III studies for acute otitis externa and acute fungal otitis externa were terminated. Foresight was acquired by Shire, which was subsequently acquired by Takeda.
