Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FT-002a is a novel peptide-based therapeutic candidate developed by HBC Immunology for the treatment of prostate cancer. It acts as an iron chelating agent, targeting the iron metabolism pathways that are crucial for tumor growth and resistance to standard therapies. Preclinical studies have shown that oral administration of FT-002a significantly enhances the anti-tumor activity of enzalutamide (an androgen receptor inhibitor) in both indolent and aggressive prostate cancer models. The drug demonstrated a significant decrease in biomarkers of free iron within tumor cells, supporting its proposed mechanism of action. As a peptide, it is expected to have an inherent safety profile typical of peptidyl drugs. Currently, FT-002a is in preclinical development with plans for an IND submission as a combination therapy for prostate cancer[1][2][9].
