Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FT2P is a novel bacteriophage (myovirus) isolated from hospital wastewater that exhibits bactericidal activity against vancomycin-resistant *Enterococcus faecium* (VREfm) and *Enterococcus faecalis*. Developed by researchers at the IIS-Hospital Universitario Fundación Jiménez Díaz and collaborating institutions, FT2P has demonstrated stability across a wide pH range (4.5–10.5) and at physiological temperatures, as well as strain-dependent lytic efficacy against multidrug-resistant clinical strains of *Enterococcus*. It is being preclinically evaluated as a potential precision antimicrobial therapy for complex infections, such as bloodstream and catheter-associated infections caused by VREfm.
