Overview

FT538 + atezolizumab is an investigational combination immunotherapy consisting of FT538, an allogeneic, CRISPR-edited, induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived natural killer (NK) cell therapy, and atezolizumab, a fully humanized monoclonal antibody that targets programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1). FT538 is designed to enhance NK cell activity, persistence, and resistance to depletion in the tumor microenvironment, potentially augmenting the efficacy of monoclonal antibodies. Atezolizumab blocks the PD-L1/PD-1 interaction, thereby restoring antitumor T-cell and NK cell immunity. This combination is under investigation for the treatment of advanced solid tumors, with preclinical data supporting synergistic antitumor activity, including enhanced tumor cell killing and improved survival in models of small cell lung cancer[2][4][6].
