Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The FT5P-FT2P phage cocktail is a dual-phage therapeutic candidate consisting of a 1:1 mixture of the bacteriophages FT5P and FT2P. It is being developed for the treatment of infections caused by vancomycin-resistant *Enterococcus faecium* (VREfm) and *Enterococcus faecalis*. The cocktail is designed to expand the therapeutic host range and enhance anti-biofilm efficacy compared to single-phage monotherapies, showing stable coexistence of both phages without competitive inhibition. Preclinical studies conducted by researchers at the IIS-Hospital Universitario Fundación Jiménez Díaz and CIBERINFEC in Spain demonstrate that the cocktail can successfully eradicate susceptible planktonic bacterial strains and significantly disrupt established biofilms.
