Overview

FTP-198 is an orally administered, novel and selective small molecule inhibitor of autotaxin (ATX), developed for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). ATX is an enzyme that catalyzes the production of lysophosphatidic acid (LPA), a bioactive lipid mediator implicated in fibrotic processes and cancer progression. By inhibiting ATX, FTP-198 reduces LPA formation and may also block ATX-mediated delivery of LPA to its target receptors, potentially providing both antifibrotic and anti-inflammatory effects. Preclinical studies have demonstrated efficacy in mouse models of pulmonary fibrosis. FTP-198 is being developed by Haisco Pharmaceutical and has completed Phase I clinical trials evaluating safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics in healthy volunteers.
