Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FTX-214 (melatonin 6,β-D-xyloside) is a preclinical small molecule therapeutic being developed by Arterez for the treatment of cardiovascular disease and atherosclerosis. It is designed to restore and maintain the integrity of the endothelial glycocalyx, a protective gel-like layer lining the vascular endothelium. FTX-214 acts as a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent, preventing the buildup of reactive oxygen species (ROS) that damage the glycocalyx by boosting the activity of endogenous antioxidant enzymes such as glutathione (GSH), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and catalase (CAT). FTX-214 is also being evaluated as a component of Embotricin (a triple-combination therapy containing FTX-214, FTX-218, and FTX-219) for cardiovascular disease and potentially viral infections like SARS-CoV-1.
