Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FTX-219 is a preclinical-stage small molecule and tripeptide derivative (specifically lipoate-cysteine-glutamic tripeptide) developed by Arterez. It is designed to restore and maintain the endothelial glycocalyx (GCX), a protective carbohydrate-rich layer lining the vascular endothelium. FTX-219 acts as an antioxidant and cytoprotective agent by activating the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) pathway, which regulates the expression of antioxidant and cytoprotective genes. It is being developed for the treatment of cardiovascular disease, atherosclerosis, and viral infections (such as SARS-CoV-1), both as a monotherapy and as a component of the triple-combination therapy Embotricin (alongside FTX-214 and FTX-218).
