Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fu-xiong San is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal powder formulation developed by the Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the external treatment of pediatric pneumonia. It is applied topically to the chest or back, typically as a paste or plaster, to facilitate the transdermal absorption of active herbal ingredients. In clinical practice, it is used as an adjunctive 'exterior' treatment in combination with 'interior' treatments (such as oral granules like wind-heat or phlegm-heat formulas) and standard Western medical care (antibiotics like azithromycin or erythromycin). The formulation is intended to resolve phlegm, relieve cough, and reduce pulmonary inflammation in children.
