Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FucoSkin is a branded cosmetic and skin health ingredient developed by Hi-Q Marine Biotech International. It is a naturally-derived marine bioactive compound consisting of a fucoidan-polysaccharide extract obtained from the brown algae *Laminaria japonica* (also known as *Saccharina japonica*) via aqueous extraction. FucoSkin functions primarily as an anti-aging and anti-wrinkle agent by inhibiting matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), which are enzymes responsible for collagen degradation in the skin. It specifically targets UVB-induced MMP expression to preserve dermal collagen structure and improve skin elasticity. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in improving skin smoothness, reducing wrinkles and pores, and mitigating spot pigmentation. It is also marketed for blue light protection and is used in various topical formulations such as creams, serums, and masks.
