Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fufang Biejia Ruangan Pian is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) compound primarily indicated for the treatment of liver fibrosis and early-stage liver cirrhosis, particularly those resulting from chronic hepatitis B. It was the first TCM approved by the China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) specifically for the reversal of liver fibrosis. The formulation is composed of 11 herbal and animal-derived ingredients, including *Carapax Trionycis* (turtle shell), *Radix Paeoniae Alba*, *Radix Angelicae Sinensis*, and *Radix Astragali*. Its therapeutic mechanism involves inhibiting the activation and proliferation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs), reducing the deposition of extracellular matrix (ECM), and promoting the degradation of existing fibrous tissue. Beyond its primary use in fibrosis, clinical research has evaluated its efficacy in preventing the recurrence and metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) following radical treatments such as surgical resection or ablation.
