Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fufang Danshen is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) multi-herb formulation primarily used for cardiovascular and circulatory health. The most common formulations include Fufang Danshen Tablet and Compounded Danshen Dripping Pill. The main active ingredients are Salvia miltiorrhiza (Danshen), Panax notoginseng (San Qi), and Styrax (Su He Xiang). Mechanistically, it acts through multiple pathways including anti-inflammatory effects (inhibiting TNF-α and IL-6), antioxidation, anticoagulation, anti-apoptosis in cardiac tissue, inhibition of monocyte recruitment via regulation of Selp and Ccl2 expression in vascular endothelium, improvement of blood flow by dissolving blood stasis and dispersing phlegm turbidity. It has been clinically used for over 40 years to treat coronary artery disease (CAD), angina pectoris, atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases. Studies suggest it can improve lipid profiles and reduce neuroinflammation[4][5][6].
