Fufang Shangtong Capsules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulated to promote blood circulation, remove blood stasis, regulate qi, and alleviate pain. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of acute soft tissue injuries, including acute thoracic wall contusion or sprain, particularly those presenting with blood stasis and qi stagnation, characterized by pain, swelling, ecchymosis, and specific tongue and pulse characteristics. Preclinical studies suggest its pharmacological actions include pain relief, anti-inflammatory effects, improvement of microcirculation, and inhibition of thrombosis. The drug is composed of several herbal ingredients such as Rheum officinale, Angelica sinensis, Trichosanthes kirilowii, Bupleurum chinense, Prunus persica, Carthamus tinctorius, Corydalis yanhusuo, and Glycyrrhiza uralensis.
