Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fufang Tongluo Decoction (also known as Compound Tongluo Decoction or CTLD) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) decoction originally developed by TCM master Zhou Zhongying. It is composed of seven Chinese medicinal herbs: He Shouwu (*Polygonum multiflorum*), Huangjing (*Polygonatum kingianum*), Haizao (*Sargassum*), Jiangcan (*Bombyx batryticatus*), Weimao (*Euonymus alatus*), Tianma (*Gastrodia elata*), and Shuizhi (*Whitmania pigra*). Fufang Tongluo Decoction is primarily developed for the treatment of cerebrovascular diseases, including cerebral infarction and ischemic moyamoya disease. Mechanistically, it has been shown to inhibit endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress-induced ferroptosis and promote angiogenesis, potentially by activating the Sonic Hedgehog (Shh) signaling pathway and regulating the Nrf2/ARE/SLC7A11 pathway. It is being evaluated in clinical trials as an adjunct therapy to aspirin and atorvastatin in patients with ischemic moyamoya disease.
