Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fufang Xueshuantong is a standardized Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) compound formulation widely utilized in China for the treatment of vascular retinal diseases and cardiovascular conditions. It is composed of four primary herbal ingredients: *Panax notoginseng* (Sanqi), *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huangqi), *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Danshen), and *Scrophularia ningpoensis* (Xuanshen). The formulation is designed to promote blood circulation, resolve blood stasis, and nourish "Qi" and "Yin". In clinical practice, it is primarily indicated for stable exertional angina pectoris and retinal vascular disorders, including diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusion. Its therapeutic effects include improving microvascular perfusion, reducing blood viscosity, and exerting anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative properties. In ophthalmology, it is frequently investigated as an adjunctive therapy to anti-VEGF agents for conditions such as choroidal neovascularization (CNV) to enhance visual outcomes and reduce retinal edema.
