fuglitagliptin

Fuglitagliptin (also known as fugliglitinate) is a small molecule dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor developed by Haisco Pharmaceutical Group for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It works by inhibiting the DPP-4 enzyme, which is responsible for the degradation of incretin hormones such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). By maintaining higher levels of these hormones, fuglitagliptin stimulates glucose-dependent insulin secretion and suppresses glucagon release, thereby improving glycemic control. The drug has been evaluated in Phase III clinical trials in China, demonstrating efficacy in reducing HbA1c levels in patients with type 2 diabetes who are inadequately controlled by diet and exercise.
