Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fuji IX EXTRA (also known as GC Fuji IX GP EXTRA) is a high-viscosity, packable glass ionomer cement used as a dental restorative material. It is primarily utilized for Class I, II, and V cavity restorations in both primary and permanent teeth, particularly in pediatric and geriatric dentistry. The material chemically bonds to the tooth structure and provides a sustained release of fluoride, which helps in preventing secondary caries and promoting remineralization of the dental tissues. It is characterized by its fast setting time (approximately 2.5 minutes), high wear resistance, and radiopacity. While Dr. Marina F Fahmy is the lead investigator in clinical trials evaluating its performance against bioactive materials, the product is developed and manufactured by GC America.
