Overview
Full-spectrum cannabigerol (CBG) oil is a botanical extract derived from *Cannabis sativa* that contains a high concentration of cannabigerol alongside other naturally occurring cannabinoids, including cannabidiol (CBD) and low levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). In the context of the CAN-ADHD clinical trial conducted by the Universidade do Sul de Santa Catarina, the specific formulation utilized contains 30 mg/mL of CBG, 30 mg/mL of CBD, and 3 mg/mL of THC. CBG is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid that serves as a chemical precursor to other cannabinoids and is being investigated for its potential to modulate cognitive and behavioral symptoms in adolescents with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Its mechanism of action is thought to involve interaction with the endocannabinoid system and monoaminergic pathways, specifically acting as an alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist and a 5-HT1A receptor antagonist, which may improve executive function and attention.
