Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Full spectrum cannabis extract (O4C-001) is a standardized botanical drug product developed by Oils4cure S.L. derived from *Cannabis sativa* L. Unlike purified cannabinoid isolates, this extract contains a complex profile of phytocannabinoids, including cannabidiol (CBD) and delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), along with minor cannabinoids and terpenes. This formulation is designed to leverage the "entourage effect," where the various plant constituents work synergistically to enhance therapeutic efficacy and improve the safety profile compared to single-molecule treatments. The drug is primarily being investigated for the treatment of refractory epilepsy associated with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC). Its mechanism of action involves the modulation of the endocannabinoid system, specifically acting on CB1 and CB2 receptors, as well as non-cannabinoid targets such as GPR55 and TRPV1 channels to reduce neuronal hyperexcitability and seizure frequency.
