Overview
Vitazyme P is an oral liquid digestive aid formulation developed by East India Pharmaceutical Works. It contains a combination of fungal diastase (an amylolytic enzyme) and pepsin (a proteolytic enzyme). Fungal diastase assists in the digestion of complex carbohydrates and starches by hydrolyzing them into simpler sugars like maltose, while pepsin breaks down dietary proteins into smaller peptides and amino acids. This combination is indicated for the relief of indigestion, bloating, flatulence, and abdominal discomfort, particularly in conditions such as long-standing diabetes, long-term proton pump inhibitor (PPI) use, stress, pregnancy, convalescence, and in elderly patients.
