Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sisu Pharma is developing a small-molecule inhibitor targeting the fungal ortholog of Heat Shock Factor 1 (HSF1) for the treatment of fungal infections. HSF1 is a master regulator of the proteotoxic stress response, and in fungi, it is essential for viability and virulence, particularly in adapting to the host environment. By selectively targeting the fungal version of this transcription factor, the drug aims to disrupt the fungal stress response and survival mechanisms without affecting the human HSF1 counterpart. The program is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
