Overview
Fuqi Gubengao (FQGBG) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) botanical paste formulation developed by the Yunnan Institute of Materia Medica and Yunnan Baiyao Group, with clinical evaluation conducted in collaboration with Xiyuan Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. It is composed of three primary herbal ingredients: FuZi (*Aconitum carmichaelii*), Wolfberry (*Lycium barbarum*), and Cinnamon (*Neolitsea cassia*). Fuqi Gubengao is designed to warm kidney yang and is primarily investigated for the treatment of nocturia associated with kidney-yang deficiency syndrome (KYDS). Its therapeutic mechanism is believed to involve the improvement of the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis function and the enhancement of energy metabolism. A Phase I clinical trial (ChiCTR1800015840) has evaluated its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and metabolomic profiles in healthy adult subjects.
