Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FURESTEM-RA is an allogeneic human umbilical cord blood-derived mesenchymal stem cell (hUCB-MSC) therapy developed by Kangstem Biotech for the treatment of moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis. The therapy leverages the immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties of mesenchymal stem cells to regulate the immune system's overactivity and promote tissue repair in affected joints. FURESTEM-RA has completed Phase 1 and Phase 1/2a clinical trials in South Korea, which evaluated its safety and preliminary efficacy. As of late 2023, the program received IND approval for a Phase 2b clinical trial to further evaluate its therapeutic potential in rheumatoid arthritis patients.
