Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FURESTEM-RA + DMARDs is a combination therapy developed by Kangstem Biotech for the treatment of moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis. The primary component, FURESTEM-RA (also known as K0101), consists of allogeneic human umbilical cord blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hUCB-MSCs) produced using the company's proprietary SELAF platform technology, which enables the production of high-purity, freeze-dried stem cells. These mesenchymal stem cells exert therapeutic effects through potent immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory mechanisms, including the modulation of T-cell and B-cell activity and the secretion of various paracrine factors. In this therapeutic regimen, FURESTEM-RA is administered in combination with conventional disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) such as methotrexate, leflunomide, sulfasalazine, or hydroxychloroquine. The therapy is currently in Phase 2b clinical trials, specifically targeting patients who have had an inadequate response to one or more standard anti-rheumatic treatments.
