Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FuroSCIX ReadyFlow is an investigational drug-device combination product consisting of a high-concentration, pH-neutral formulation of furosemide delivered via a handheld autoinjector. Developed by MannKind Corporation, it is designed for the subcutaneous treatment of congestion and edema in adult patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) or chronic kidney disease (CKD). Unlike the previously FDA-approved FuroSCIX On-body Infusor, which delivers the dose over five hours, the ReadyFlow autoinjector is engineered to deliver an intravenous-equivalent dose in less than 10 seconds. Furosemide, the active loop diuretic, works by inhibiting the sodium-potassium-chloride cotransporter (NKCC2) in the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle, promoting the excretion of water and electrolytes to manage fluid overload in an outpatient setting.
