Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FUROSCIX ReadyFlow is an investigational drug-device combination product developed by MannKind Corporation for the subcutaneous delivery of a pH-neutral furosemide formulation. Designed as a handheld autoinjector, it delivers an 80 mg dose of furosemide in less than 10 seconds, offering a more rapid administration option compared to the previously approved FUROSCIX On-body Infusor. The product is targeted at adult patients experiencing edema associated with chronic heart failure (CHF) or chronic kidney disease (CKD). Furosemide, the active pharmaceutical ingredient, is a loop diuretic that functions by inhibiting the sodium-potassium-chloride cotransporter (NKCC2) in the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle. This inhibition prevents the reabsorption of sodium, potassium, and chloride, leading to increased diuresis and the reduction of fluid overload. The FDA has accepted a supplemental New Drug Application (sNDA) for the product with a target action date in mid-2026.
