Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Combination of furosemide, a loop diuretic, and isosorbide dinitrate, a vasodilator. Furosemide works by inhibiting sodium and chloride resorption in the ascending limb of the loop of Henle, increasing urine production and reducing fluid volume. Isosorbide dinitrate relaxes vascular smooth muscle, causing dilation of peripheral arteries and veins, which reduces preload and afterload on the heart. This combination is primarily used in the treatment of severe pulmonary edema and heart failure.
