Fusobacterium nucleatum phage refers to a group of bacteriophages (viruses that infect bacteria) being investigated for their ability to specifically target and destroy *Fusobacterium nucleatum*. [1, 2, 3, 4] This bacterium is a gram-negative anaerobe found in the oral cavity and gut microbiota. [3] An increased abundance of *F. nucleatum* has been associated with several diseases, including periodontal disease, and more recently, with the progression of colorectal cancer. [1, 3] In the context of cancer, *F. nucleatum* is considered an oncobacterium that can promote tumor cell proliferation, chemoresistance, and protect the tumor from the host's immune system. [4, 6] Phage therapy offers a highly specific approach to eliminate *F. nucleatum* from the tumor microenvironment, potentially reversing its pro-tumorigenic effects and augmenting the efficacy of conventional cancer treatments like chemotherapy. [2, 4, 8] Research is preclinical and includes isolating novel phages from sources like human saliva and characterizing their lytic activity against various *F. nucleatum* strains. [1, 3, 6] Some studies are also exploring engineering these phages to deliver therapeutic payloads, such as cytokines, directly to the tumor site. [2]
