Overview
Fuzapladib is a small molecule drug used as an immune modulating agent for the management of clinical signs associated with acute onset pancreatitis in dogs. It acts as a selective inhibitor of leukocyte function-associated antigen 1 (LFA-1), blocking LFA-1 activation and thereby inhibiting neutrophil adhesion and migration. This mechanism reduces neutrophilic inflammation within the pancreas, potentially limiting lesion expansion and preventing complications such as multi-organ failure. Fuzapladib is administered intravenously by veterinarians and is currently conditionally approved by the FDA for veterinary use in dogs pending further demonstration of effectiveness[1][2][3][4][7].
