Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fuzheng 3 is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by the Guang'anmen Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. It is primarily utilized as an adjunctive therapy for patients with HIV/AIDS, particularly those undergoing Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART). The formula is designed according to the TCM principle of "Fuzheng," which focuses on strengthening the body's vital energy and immune resistance. Clinical trials have evaluated Fuzheng 3 for its ability to support immune reconstitution, specifically by increasing CD4+ T-lymphocyte counts and improving the quality of life in patients with suboptimal immune responses (CD4 counts ≤ 350 cells/µl). It is often studied in conjunction with other formulas in the series, such as Fuzheng 1, and is believed to work through multi-target mechanisms to stabilize immune function and potentially inhibit viral replication.
