Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Fuzheng Huayu** is an orally administered, multi-herb traditional Chinese medicine formula developed for hepatic fibrosis associated with chronic liver disease. The proprietary formulation contains *Salvia miltiorrhiza*, fermented *Cordyceps* mycelium powder, peach kernel, pine pollen, *Gynostemma pentaphyllum*, and processed *Schisandra chinensis*. It is marketed in China for hepatitis B-associated liver fibrosis and has been evaluated clinically for hepatic fibrosis in chronic hepatitis C and in metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver cirrhosis. Its proposed antifibrotic activity is multi-component and multi-pathway rather than attributable to a single defined molecular target; nonclinical studies associate the formula with reduced hepatic stellate-cell activation, attenuation of inflammatory and oxidative injury, and remodeling of fibrotic extracellular matrix.
