Overview

Fuzheng Jiedu Xiaoji (FZJDXJ) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation investigated for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). It is administered as a decoction, typically in combination with standard cancer therapies such as transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE). Clinical trials have shown that adding FZJDXJ to standard treatment significantly prolongs overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) in patients with HCC, particularly those with advanced hepatitis B virus-related HCC. The formulation contains numerous active constituents, including formononetin, chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid, and gallic acid. Its proposed mechanism of action involves inhibiting cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, as well as promoting apoptosis, through the modulation of the AKT/CyclinD1/p21/p27 signaling pathways.
