Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fuzheng Yiqing decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed for the early intervention, prevention, and treatment of COVID-19, particularly in individuals who have had close contact with infected patients. The decoction was developed through a collaboration between the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine, and Yangzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In TCM theory, the formula is designed to "strengthen the body's resistance" (Fuzheng) and clear pathogenic factors, a strategy commonly employed for respiratory viral infections. It has been evaluated in randomized controlled trials to assess its efficacy in reducing infection rates and symptom severity among high-risk populations exposed to SARS-CoV-2.
