Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fuzhenghuayu granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) compound formula primarily developed for the treatment of organ fibrosis, particularly liver fibrosis and chronic kidney disease. The formula consists of six Chinese medicinal herbs: *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Danshen), *Cordyceps sinensis* (Dongchongxiacao), *Prunus persica* (Taoren), *Gynostemma pentaphyllum* (Jiaogulan), *Pollen typhae* (Puhuang), and *Schisandra chinensis* (Wuweizi). It exerts anti-fibrotic effects by inhibiting the activation of myofibroblasts, reducing the expression of Transforming Growth Factor-beta 1 (TGF-β1), and promoting the degradation of the extracellular matrix. In clinical trials, it is often evaluated as an adjunctive therapy to standard treatments like losartan for chronic glomerulonephritis and chronic kidney disease to reduce proteinuria and preserve renal function. It was the first TCM formula to complete a Phase 2 clinical trial in the United States for liver fibrosis.
