Fuzhengquxie is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by the Department of Oncology at Shanghai Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. Based on the TCM therapeutic principle of strengthening the body's resistance (Fuzheng) and eliminating pathogenic factors (Quxie), it is primarily utilized as an adjuvant therapy for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), specifically lung adenocarcinoma. The formula typically consists of a standardized combination of herbs including *Astragalus membranaceus*, *Pseudostellaria heterophylla*, *Oldenlandia diffusa*, and *Scutellaria barbata*. Mechanistically, fuzhengquxie is reported to exert anti-tumor effects by inhibiting the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling pathway, suppressing angiogenesis through the inhibition of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and modulating the immune microenvironment by regulating the PD-1/PD-L1 axis and enhancing T-cell activity. It is frequently studied and used in combination with conventional treatments such as chemotherapy or EGFR-targeted tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) to improve clinical outcomes and mitigate treatment-related toxicities.
