Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FV-CD16-CR T cells are an investigational, off-the-shelf, allogeneic cellular immunotherapy consisting of T cells engineered to express a CD16 (FcγRIIIa-V158) chimeric receptor (CR) using a non-pathogenic foamy virus (FV) vector. Developed by researchers at the University of Thessaly and the Academy of Athens, these cells are designed to bind the Fc portion of therapeutic monoclonal antibodies (such as rituximab or cetuximab) to mediate antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) against hematological and solid tumor malignancies. The use of a foamy virus vector offers a safer integration profile and reduced genotoxicity compared to traditional lentiviral vectors, while the CD16-CR construct allows for a modular, multi-antigen targeting approach when combined with different tumor-specific antibodies.
