Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The FXII-uPAR-abrogating peptide combination is a therapeutic mixture of synthetic peptides designed to disrupt the interaction between coagulation factor XII (FXII) and the urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR). This interaction, which occurs independently of FXII's enzymatic protease activity, acts as an autocrine signaling axis in neutrophils and other cells, promoting Akt2 phosphorylation, neutrophil activation, and trafficking to sites of sterile inflammation. By blocking the FXII-uPAR axis, this peptide combination suppresses neutrophil-mediated sterile inflammation, reduces the accumulation of malignant ascites, and decreases tumor burden and metastasis in epithelial ovarian cancer. It also shows therapeutic potential in deep vein thrombosis, chronic wound healing, and sickle cell disease.
