Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FXII900-PCB is a polymer-drug conjugate consisting of the selective bicyclic peptide factor XIIa (FXIIa) inhibitor, FXII900, conjugated at its C-terminus to zwitterionic polycarboxybetaine (PCB) [PB2811]. Developed by researchers at Carnegie Mellon University and Cornell University, this conjugate is designed to overcome the short half-life of the parent peptide FXII900, enabling bolus administration rather than continuous infusion [PB2811]. By selectively inhibiting FXIIa, FXII900-PCB targets the intrinsic pathway of coagulation to prevent thrombosis on blood-contacting medical devices, such as those used in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), without impairing the extrinsic pathway or increasing the risk of bleeding complications [PB2811].
